The media server, rebuilt

Your media server, up to 1,500× faster.

Lattice rebuilt the data layer behind the Jellyfin® API from the ground up for speed, concurrency, reliability and — did we mention speed? Searches in under 7 ms. A full library sync in seconds, not minutes. Parallelized and optimized so time-starved admins work less and enjoy their media more. Engineered by a 20+ year veteran of home media.

“Up to 1,500×” is search as you type: each keystroke took Jellyfin 10.11 3,000–10,000 ms and Lattice under 7 ms (~500–1,500×), measured on one household library of about 40,000 items. How we measured.

The Lattice mark: a titanium X-braced frame with a purple jelly cap.

Day one

A day to load into Jellyfin. Minutes into Lattice.

When we moved our own library into Jellyfin, it took more than 24 hours, and that was with a purpose-built harness feeding it a few seasons at a time so its database wouldn’t fall over. Jellyfin users report the same: hours, often days.

Lattice reads, catalogues and dresses your library in parallel. In our lab, a copy of our whole library’s layout, 36,130 files, was playable in under ten minutes.

A 24-hour clock face. Our own move into Jellyfin used the whole day and more. Jellyfin in our lab took 3 hours 22 minutes. Lattice took 9.4 minutes, a sliver at the top. 0 h 6 h 12 h 18 h 9.4 min Lattice

What changes for you

Everything opens instantly.

Start tonight, not next week: your library loads in minutes. After that, search, browse and sync answer before you’ve finished tapping, however big it gets.

Under 7 ms per search keystroke; a full 40,000-item library sync in about 5 seconds.

Aunt Ginny is no longer your tech support nightmare.

Ask Lattice walks the people you share with through setup on their phone and Apple TV, and through buffering and connection problems, so they don’t call you.

Pre-built setup and troubleshooting steps for your server, in the Lattice iPhone app (beta). How Ask works

Keep the apps your family already loves.

Infuse connects exactly as it does today. Swiftfin, Streamyfin and other Jellyfin-compatible players speak the same API. Old TV or a slow connection? Pick a port to cap the quality.

Same login, same libraries, same direct play; watch history and resume points come with you.

Room for more on the same disks.

Distiller re-encodes to save space, and proves the quality instead of promising it.

~64% saved on re-encoded shows on one household library, every file checked with VMAF.

Share safely, no VPN.

No open admin ports, and every new device is approved by the owner, which works like a second factor.

The people you share with install nothing but their player: no VPN, no relay.

Your viewing stays yours.

No tracking, no telemetry, no ads.

Your library and viewing data stay on your server; anything that would ever leave it is opt-in.
